(Samastipur) Bihar, October 24
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday kicked off the NDA’s election campaign in Bihar, asserting that the alliance led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would set a new record in the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls and return to power. Speaking at rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai, Modi took aim at the opposition INDIA bloc, calling it a group of “people out on bail.” He recalled how Bihar was “freed from jungle raj” in October 2005 and accused the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Indian National Congress of obstructing Nitish Kumar’s development agenda during their rule at the Centre.
Mocking RJD’s lantern symbol, Modi asked the crowd to light torches on their mobile phones. “When everyone has light in their hands, do we still need a lantern?” he quipped.
Modi invoked the legacy of Karpoori Thakur, calling him a guiding force behind good governance. He accused the RJD–Congress alliance of trying to “steal the legacy” of Thakur while being “out on bail in scams worth thousands of crores.” He asserted that the people of Bihar would not tolerate any insult to the popular leader.
The Prime Minister also spoke about economic reforms, including the GST savings scheme, and linked them to the festive spirit of Chhath Puja. He pledged to accelerate Bihar’s development if the NDA returns to power.
Attacking the RJD–Congress alliance, Modi said their priority was “family politics, not Bihar’s future.” He contrasted this with the NDA’s promise to ensure a prosperous future for Bihar’s youth.
Highlighting his security agenda, Modi claimed that the NDA had broken the “backbone of Maoist violence” in the state. “Very soon, Bihar will be completely free from Maoist terror. This is Modi’s guarantee,” he said.
He urged voters to stay alert, warning that the Opposition’s campaign signalled a return to the “dark days of jungle raj.” Modi called on the people to “seal the box of jungle raj forever.”
