New Delhi, April 27
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged justice for the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, describing the assault as a cowardly attempt to derail peace in Kashmir.
Speaking during his monthly Mann Ki Baat broadcast, Modi said the 22 April attack had caused deep anguish across India. “No matter which state one belongs to, no matter which language one speaks, the pain is shared by every Indian,” he said.
The Prime Minister condemned the perpetrators, accusing them of targeting Kashmir’s growing stability and economic progress. “When peace was returning, when schools and colleges were vibrant again, when tourism was booming and democracy strengthening, these enemies of India conspired to destroy it once more,” Modi said.
He described the attack as a sign of “desperation” by terrorist groups and vowed a resolute national response. “The unity of 140 crore Indians is our biggest strength,” he said, urging citizens to show “strong willpower” in the face of terror.
Modi said that the world had rallied behind India, with foreign leaders sending messages of support and solidarity. “Condolences are pouring in from around the world. Global leaders have called me, written letters, and strongly condemned this heinous attack,” he said.
Promising that justice would be swift and unforgiving, Modi assured the grieving families that the perpetrators would face the “harshest response”.
