PM Modi visits Vantara wildlife centre in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and toured the Vantara Wildlife Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Conservation Centre at Jamnagar in Gujarat, showcasing his administration’s commitment to animal welfare and conservation. The 3,000-acre facility, located within the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery Complex, is home to over 2,000 animals from 43 species. It focuses on the welfare of captive elephants and other wildlife, offering sanctuary, rehabilitation, and medical care to animals rescued from abuse and exploitation.

Modi explored the centre’s advanced veterinary facilities and engaged closely with rehabilitated animals. The centre boasts a dedicated team of more than 2,100 staff who strive to recreate natural habitats and promote sustainable and humane animal care practices.Beyond animal care, the Vantara centre also empowers local communities by providing training in sustainable livelihoods, contributing to conservation and welfare efforts. The visit underscores Modi’s broader conservation agenda and aligns with his push for sustainable development and community empowerment.
