Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called on citizens to embrace mindful eating and adopt healthier lifestyles, using the occasion of World Liver Day to advocate for small but significant changes in daily habits.
In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Modi underscored the importance of dietary awareness, noting that even modest steps—such as cutting down on oil consumption—can have a meaningful impact on public health.
“Commendable effort to mark #WorldLiverDay with a call for mindful eating and healthier living,” he wrote, responding to a post by Union Health Minister JP Nadda. “Small steps like reducing oil intake can make a big difference. Together, let’s build a fitter, healthier India by raising awareness about obesity. #StopObesity”
India, like many nations, is witnessing a growing burden of lifestyle-related diseases, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), often linked to obesity and poor dietary patterns. Public health experts have long urged behavioural interventions alongside policy support to stem the tide.
Modi’s remarks align with broader government campaigns aimed at preventive healthcare and nutrition education, especially among younger populations.
