Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dehradun on November 9 to take part in celebrations marking 25 years since the formation of Uttarakhand. The Prime Minister will launch a commemorative postal stamp and address a public gathering during the Silver Jubilee event, scheduled for 12:30 pm.
He will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones for multiple development projects worth more than ₹8,140 crore, spanning sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, education, energy, urban development, sports and skill training. According to the government, projects worth over ₹930 crore will be inaugurated, while foundation stones for schemes totalling around ₹7,210 crore will be laid.
Modi will release ₹62 crore in direct financial assistance to more than 28,000 farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
Key projects to be inaugurated include the Dehradun water supply network for 23 zones under the AMRUT scheme, a new electrical substation in Pithoragarh, solar power installations on government buildings, and an AstroTurf hockey ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for two major hydro-sector projects — the Song Dam Drinking Water Project, which will provide 150 million litres of water per day to Dehradun, and the Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project in Nainital, designed to support drinking water, irrigation and electricity generation. Other projects include new electrical substations, a Women’s Sports College in Champawat, and a modern dairy plant in Nainital.
