Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation for multiple health sector projects worth approximately ₹12,850 crore at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, coinciding with Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day On October 29.
A significant addition to the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), the Prime Minister will announce expanded health coverage for all senior citizens aged 70 and above, ensuring access regardless of income. Modi’s ongoing commitment to quality healthcare will see the launch of various healthcare infrastructure projects.
Among the key initiatives, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Phase II of India’s First All India Institute of Ayurveda, which includes a Panchakarma hospital, Ayurvedic pharmacy, sports medicine unit, central library, IT incubation center, and a 500-seat auditorium. Additionally, three new medical colleges will be inaugurated in Madhya Pradesh, along with facility extensions at various AIIMS across the country.
Modi will lay the foundation for five nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh and 21 critical care blocks in several states under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM). He will also inaugurate an ESIC hospital in Indore and lay the foundation for additional ESIC hospitals across multiple states.
In a push for technology in healthcare, the Prime Minister will introduce drone services at 11 tertiary healthcare institutions to enhance accessibility and launch the U-WIN portal for the digital vaccination process benefiting pregnant women and infants. Furthermore, the establishment of a Central Drugs Testing Laboratory in Bhubaneswar and two Central Research Institutes in Yoga and Naturopathy is on the agenda.
Under the Make in India initiative, five projects will be inaugurated under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for medical devices and bulk drugs. Additionally, Modi will launch the nationwide “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan” to raise health awareness and state-specific action plans for climate change and human health.
