Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has said petrol, diesel and cooking gas supplies in the state remain smooth and uninterrupted, while urging people not to panic amid concerns over the fallout of the West Asia conflict. While addressing a press conference on Saturday, Saini said there was no shortage of fuel or gas in Haryana and appealed to residents not to engage in panic buying or pay attention to rumours.

“We are regularly in touch with oil marketing companies and have been holding meetings with them,” he said. Saini said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stood firmly with citizens during major crises, including the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

He thanked the prime minister for cutting excise duty on petrol to Rs 3 per litre and exempting diesel fully from the duty, saying the move would help keep fuel prices stable. The chief minister also accused the Congress and other opposition parties of politicising the crisis and trying to mislead people instead of supporting the government during a difficult period.

Saini said Haryana has 4,032 government petrol pumps, where an average of 4,804 kilolitres of petrol and 12,003 kilolitres of diesel are sold.

He said he had informed Modi during a virtual meeting with chief ministers on Friday that petroleum supplies in Haryana remained stable and uninterrupted.
