New Delhi, March 1
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday credited years of policy decisions and infrastructure development for the country’s growing global stature, asserting that India has transformed from a “back office” into a “world force.” Speaking at the NXT Conclave at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday, Modi highlighted the nation’s economic and industrial progress, pointing to improvements in transport infrastructure and a booming automobile sector. He noted that reduced logistics costs had boosted manufacturing, with India emerging as a major vehicle producer and exporter.
“For decades, India was known as the world’s back office,” Modi said. “Today, we are becoming the new factory of the world. We are not just a workforce; we are a world force.”
The Prime Minister emphasized India’s rise as a global export hub, citing the increasing international demand for Pulwama’s snow peas, Maharashtra’s Purandar figs, and Kashmir’s cricket bats. He also underscored India’s advances in defense production, electronics, and engineering, positioning the country as a trusted supplier in global trade.
Mentioning the recent completion of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj on February 26th, which amazed the world with crores of people bathing in a temporary city along the riverbank, Prime Minister Modi said, “the world is witnessing India’s organizing and innovating skills”.
“The world is keenly watching 21st-century India,” he said. “From organizing mega-events to manufacturing cutting-edge technology, we are setting new records every day.”
Modi linked his government’s achievements to its commitment to “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance,” citing the abolition of over 1,500 outdated laws, including colonial-era regulations that restricted bamboo harvesting and public performances.
The Prime Minister also reiterated his vision of “Vocal for Local, Local for Global,” pointing to India’s growing prominence in sectors such as yoga, AYUSH products, and superfoods like millets. He recalled former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s praise for Indian millet dishes, reinforcing India’s culinary exports as part of its global outreach.
Modi’s remarks came as he welcomed the launch of NewsX World, a new media network with channels in multiple languages. He expressed confidence that the platform would showcase India’s achievements “without bias.” In his closing remarks, Modi referenced India’s leadership in global initiatives, including the G20 summit, the International Solar Alliance, and the AI Action Summit in France, which India co-hosted. He framed India’s expanding role on the world stage as a testament to its ability to set and achieve ambitious goals.
