Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed over 71,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth in government departments through videoconferencing on Monday. Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said that he had returned from Kuwait late the previous night, where he engaged in extensive discussions with Indian youth and professionals. He described the timing as a “pleasant coincidence,” noting that his first event upon returning was with the youth of India. “Today marks a new beginning for thousands of young people across the country,” he said. “Your dreams, built over many years, have now come true. The hard work you’ve put in has paid off. As we close out 2024, a year that has brought new joy, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of you and your families,” he added.

In his address, Modi highlighted the government’s efforts to prioritize job creation, noting that in the past 10 years, there has been a concerted push to offer government jobs across various ministries. He pointed out that in the past 18 months, around 1 million permanent government positions were filled, a remarkable achievement for the country.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of utilizing India’s youth talent, with initiatives such as Rozgar Melas playing a key role in this effort. He highlighted that India’s youth were excelling in various sectors, including entrepreneurship, sports, and technology, driven by robust government support systems.

India’s rise as the world’s fifth-largest economy and the third-largest startup ecosystem, according to Modi, is a direct result of policies such as Make in India and Digital India, which have empowered youth. He also pointed to the country’s advancements in mobile manufacturing, renewable energy, and defense, creating new opportunities.

The Prime Minister also focused on education reform, with the National Education Policy (NEP) guiding India towards a more innovative and inclusive system. He mentioned several schemes that have helped rural and marginalized youth, including language-focused learning initiatives and increased quotas for border-area residents.

On the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, Modi also highlighted the government’s efforts in rural employment, particularly through agricultural initiatives like Gobar-Dhan Yojana and e-NAM. These programs have not only created jobs but also contributed to energy production and market access for farmers.

Modi also celebrated the success of women’s empowerment initiatives, mentioning that thousands of women received appointment letters and are joining government services. He added that the government has focused on making women self-reliant, with initiatives such as the Mudra Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana ensuring better financial and housing opportunities for women.

The Prime Minister concluded by emphasizing the transformative nature of government reforms, urging new appointees to continue learning and growing throughout their careers, and congratulating them for their achievements.
