Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday criticized the Congress party for its alleged attempts to erase the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and insult marginalized communities, particularly SC/ST groups. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi claimed that the Congress and its “rotten ecosystem” were trying to cover up their past misdeeds with “malicious lies.”

“The people of India have seen how one party, led by one dynasty, has worked tirelessly to undermine Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and humiliate the SC/ST communities,” Modi said. He accused the Congress of multiple offenses, including attempting to defeat Dr. Ambedkar in elections and denying him a Bharat Ratna.

Modi also criticized Congress for its role in ignoring the atrocities against SC/ST communities during its tenure. “For years, they sat in power but did nothing to empower these communities,” he said. The Prime Minister pointed to recent remarks by Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament, which exposed Congress’ history of disrespect towards Dr. Ambedkar.

Modi emphasized that the current government has been actively working to fulfill Ambedkar’s vision, citing initiatives such as the Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Awas Yojana, and Ujjwala Yojana, which have benefited marginalized communities.

Further defending his government’s actions, Modi pointed to the development of Panchteerth – five key locations associated with Dr. Ambedkar – and highlighted efforts to resolve longstanding issues related to Chaitya Bhoomi. He also noted that his government had acquired the house where Ambedkar spent his final years in London, underscoring the government’s commitment to honoring Ambedkar’s legacy.
