Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has reiterated the Indian government’s commitment to strengthening a business-friendly trade environment and expanding global market access for exporters. Chairing a meeting with Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and major industry associations at Vanijya Bhawan on Wednesday, Goyal reviewed ongoing efforts to streamline export procedures and improve India’s standing in global trade.
Senior officials from the Department of Commerce, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), the Department of Revenue, and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) attended the meeting, alongside representatives from key export bodies. Officials presented detailed updates on reforms implemented during the first half of the 2025–26 financial year, as well as upcoming measures designed to boost exports and simplify compliance processes.
Discussions centred on challenges faced by industry players, export diversification, and strategies to strengthen India’s manufacturing and service exports.
Industry representatives from sectors such as textiles, engineering, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, medical devices, telecom, and services commended the Ministry’s efforts to build a competitive, export-driven economy. Associations including FIEO, CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, PHDCCI, NASSCOM, and SIAM also praised Goyal’s role in promoting policy reforms that align with India’s long-term trade ambitions.
