A photo exhibition was organised in Manali on Wednesday to mark the 90th birthday of Dalai Lama. The exhibition was organized by the Ghotan Committee as part of the celebrations, with this year being observed as the “Year of Compassion.” Former Lahaul-Spiti MLA Ravi Thakur attended the event as the chief guest. Kullu Tibetan Welfare Officer Tenzin T Sulten said the exhibition showcases important moments from the Dalai Lama’s life, highlighting his teachings on compassion, peace, and non-violence.

He added that the event reflects the Dalai Lama’s lifelong contribution to promoting harmony and human values across the world. The exhibition features rare and significant photographs presented with a special theme that captures the remarkable journey of His Holiness.

The aim of the exhibition is to bring the Dalai Lama’s extraordinary life, teachings, and enduring legacy closer to people. Chetin Yanki, vice president of the Tibetan Women’s Association, described the Dalai Lama as a timeless symbol of love, compassion, patience, and moral discipline. She praised him as a messenger of world peace, non-violence, and compassion, and an inspiration for people across the globe. Ravi Thakur also appreciated the Dalai Lama’s efforts in preserving Tibetan culture and keeping the Tibetan community united in exile. He said that the term “Dalai Lama” means “Ocean of Wisdom” and that he is regarded as a Bodhisattva, an embodiment of compassion.
