Actor Anupam Kher has issued a powerful emotional appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed at least 28 lives. Kher, a Kashmiri himself, expressed grief and fury in a video message, demanding that the government deliver a strong and decisive response. “This time, don’t spare them,” Kher said, his voice breaking. “These terrorists must be taught an exemplary lesson. What happened in Pahalgam is beyond barbaric.”

The actor’s statement came in the aftermath of one of the worst recent attacks, where terrorists opened fire on a group of trekkers in a remote mountainous area. Several people were also injured in the ambush. Kher also referred to a viral photo of a grieving woman — the wife of one of the victims — that has struck a deep chord across India. “That image will haunt us all,” he said. “It is not just a picture of sorrow, it is a call for action. We must not allow another family to suffer like this.”

The actor, who has long spoken about Kashmir’s pain and his identity as a displaced Kashmiri Pandit, urged political leaders to go beyond statements and ensure accountability. “This is not just about Kashmir,” he said. “This is about the soul of the nation. Terror must not be allowed to win.”
