The Punjab government has almost completed paddy procurement for the season, with more than 11 lakh farmers received payments at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) by 12 November. The state officials credited the progress to what they described as a proactive approach by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, said procurement, lifting and payment processes were running at full pace across the state.
Patiala district recorded the highest number of beneficiaries, with 96,920 farmers received MSP so far. 15.47 million tonnes of paddy had arrived in mandis across Punjab. Of this, 15.39 million tonnes—around 99%—had already been procured. The state reported that 14.10 million tonnes had been lifted, marking 91% of the procured stock. Officials said the government remained focused on ensuring timely payments and seamless crop movement during the final phase of the procurement season.
