The Kangra district police have intensified action against vehicles running without number plates and high-security registration plates and issued a total of 538 challans during a week-long special drive. Of these, 332 were for vehicles without number plates, while 206 were for vehicles lacking high-security plates.

Officials pointed out that several areas in the district frequently see vehicles operating without proper registration. In many cases, two-wheelers have bent high-security number plates, allowing riders to evade identification by cameras, police, or the public in the event of an accident.

There have also been multiple incidents where high-speed two-wheeler riders hit pedestrians and fled the scene, putting both their own lives and those of others at risk.

In addition to the challans for improper number plates, the police also took action against four-wheeler vehicles with black films or heavily tinted windows, which hinder visibility and law enforcement.

Kangra ASP Rajendra Kumar Jaswal said, “During this special drive, 332 challans were issued for vehicles without number plates and 206 under the Motor Vehicles Act for missing high-security plates. Drivers of such vehicles often flee after accidents, making them difficult to trace. Number plates are mandatory on all vehicles, and strict action will continue under the Motor Vehicles Act against violators.”

The police emphasized that these measures are aimed at ensuring road safety and enforcing accountability across the district.
