Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh on Friday said that the next state party chief must have broad acceptance among the cadre, as she hinted at a looming shake-up in the organisation. Addressing a press conference in Shimla, she acknowledged mounting frustration among workers over delays in leadership appointments. She said the new team should blend experienced leaders with younger faces to inject fresh energy.
She confirmed that the Congress high command in Delhi had discussed the formation of a new state executive committee, with a decision expected soon. The meeting, chaired by Rahul Gandhi, focused on strengthening the party’s base and filling long-pending posts for state president and the executive body.
She also urged that dedicated workers be given positions in government boards and corporations, stressing that every member deserved respect for their contribution to the party’s success. Recalling her tenure as president, she said she had worked to unite members and pledged to take on any role given to her. She also remembered former Chief Minister Raja Virbhadra Singh, saying his advice to prioritise the party’s growth continued to guide her.
