Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardip Singh Mundian has directed officials to establish new urban estates in cities and towns across the state, reinforcing the government’s commitment to planned urban development and world-class public facilities. During a review meeting at PUDA Bhavan in Mohali, Mundian called for dedication and integrity from departmental staff, emphasizing the need for affordable housing to prevent people from buying property in unauthorized colonies. He instructed officials to acquire necessary land and develop estates in both major cities and smaller towns.
Mundian stressed the importance of delivering timely, corruption-free services and warned that negligence would not be tolerated. He urged officials to carry out their duties responsibly and honestly, from junior to senior levels.
To boost property acquisition, Mundian ordered the launch of e-auctions for housing and business properties starting next week. He emphasized the need for transparency and fairness in the auction process. He also reviewed master plans, local planning areas, and called for strict action against defaulters in delayed projects.
Principal Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Vikas Garg directed the adoption of government policies aimed at minimizing public inconvenience. He urged officials to accelerate the transition of all services online, enhancing accessibility and efficiency.
The meeting included senior officials such as Special Secretary Apneet Riyat, PUDA CA and Director of Town and Country Planning Neeru Katial Gupta, GAMADA CA Vishesh Sarangal, GLADA CA Sandeep Kumar, PDA-cum-BDA CA Manisha Rana, JDA-cum-ADA CA Nitesh Kumar Jain, among others.
