Hours after terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley, killing 26 and injuring several others, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his official visit to Saudi Arabia and is flying back to India tonight, skipping a state dinner hosted by Riyadh. Modi, who was originally scheduled to return to Delhi on Wednesday night, will now arrive in the early hours of Wednesday morning, according to senior government sources.
Following the attack, the Prime Minister strongly condemned what he described as a “heinous” act of terror in Jammu and Kashmir. “Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice. They will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister also posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter), expressing condolences and promising support for those affected: “I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected. Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice… they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger.”
