Wrestlers from Punjab, Haryana, Canada, and Iran clinched titles at the 28th Purewal Games, showcasing fierce competition and international talent. In the men’s open weight category, Mirza Iran secured the prestigious ‘Mahabharat Kesari’ title, with Vicky Mirchpur as runner-up, winning ₹1.25 lakh and ₹75,000 respectively. Kajal Sonipat claimed the women’s ‘Mahabharat Kesari’ title by defeating Jashanveer Amritsar, earning ₹50,000, while the runner-up took home ₹35,000.
Other winners included Sachin Patiala as ‘Sher-e-Hind’ (up to 90 kg), Jaideep Rohtak as ‘Aftab-e-Hind’ (up to 80 kg), and Jaskaran Singh Patiala as ‘Sitar-e-Hind’ (up to 65 kg). Meenakshi Jind won ‘Mahabharat Kumari’ (up to 60 kg), and Uday Pratap Singh from Canada clinched the ‘Punjab Kumar’ title (under 17).
The winners were honoured by Chief Organiser Gurjit Singh Purewal and other dignitaries, highlighting the event’s success in promoting wrestling talent.
