Ludhiana, April 17

As part of the Punjab Sikhya Kranti (Education Revolution) initiative, Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Thursday inaugurated the first-ever shooting range in a government school in Ludhiana district on Thursday. The five-target shooting facility, built at a cost of ₹5 lakh, was unveiled at Raghvir Singh Freedom Fighter Government High School on Amloh Road in Khanna. This development is seen as a major step in enhancing competitive sports infrastructure within public education institutions, providing students with an early opportunity to excel in shooting sports. Cabinet Minister Sond emphasized that Punjab’s shooters have already garnered international recognition, and by fostering such talent in schools, the state is preparing the next generation to bring home more medals on both national and international stages.

In addition to the shooting range, Minister Sond also dedicated infrastructure development projects worth ₹71.15 lakh across five government schools in the Khanna constituency. These projects have funded the construction of classrooms, repairs to existing facilities, bathroom upgrades, and the provision of educational tours for students. Notable developments include the construction of two classrooms and a shooting range room at Raghvir Singh Freedom Fighter School, the creation of new rooms and bathroom facilities at several primary schools, and significant repairs to classrooms and ceilings. Minister Sond highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to modernizing the infrastructure of government schools and expanding access to a range of academic and extracurricular opportunities.

Encouraging students to take pride in being part of the public school system, Sond noted that government schools in Punjab now offer facilities that surpass those of many private institutions. “The standard of education has been raised, and we will continue to build on this momentum,” he said. The Punjab Sikhya Kranti program has become the backbone of the state’s educational reforms, focusing on both infrastructure improvements and the holistic development of students.
