Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains has written to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, urging the construction of five new bridges over BBMB rivers to address critical connectivity issues in the Shri Anandpur Sahib constituency. In his letter, Bains highlighted the infrastructure challenges faced by residents in areas like Nangal, Kiratpur Sahib, and Anandpur Sahib due to inadequate road links. He stressed that the proposed bridges would enhance connectivity, promote holistic development, and boost tourism in the historically and spiritually significant region.

The minister requested the construction of a bridge over Sarsa-Nangal, the reconstruction of 60-year-old bridges in Brahampur and Darauli, a bridge for Attari and nearby villages, and a proper bridge for Bhaowal village. He emphasized that these projects demand urgent attention to address the region’s longstanding developmental needs.

Bains referenced the sacrifices of the region’s forefathers, who gave up their land for the construction of the Bhakra Nangal Dam and related infrastructure. While those efforts were pivotal in modern India’s progress, the infrastructure has since deteriorated, and little has been done to upgrade it.

He also underscored the cultural and historical significance of Anandpur Sahib, calling it the sacred land where Guru Gobind Singh Ji created the Khalsa, and appealed for the bridges as a step toward honoring the region’s heritage while paving the way for future prosperity.
