India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday urged the UK government to take action against Khalistani groups disrupting the screening of Bollywood movie Emergency, produced by Kangana Ranaut. “We expect the UK government to act,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during a press briefing in New Delhi.
Jaiswal also addressed Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s visit to China, stating, “All matters of importance will be discussed.” Commenting on illegal migration to the United States, Jaiswal said, “India is against illegal migration.” He also emphasized vigilance on developments in the neighborhood affecting India’s security, referencing the visit of ISIS officials to Dhaka. On Khalistani figure Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s appearance at US President Donald Trump’s events, he remarked, “Whenever there is anti-India activity, we raise it.”
Regarding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, the MEA reiterated its stance, stating, “The solution lies off the battlefield.” Highlighting India’s strengthening ties with the United States, Jaiswal said, “India-US relations remain very strong, with special economic ties. In 2023, we reached record trade levels and established mechanisms to address trade issues. We remain in close communication with the U.S. administration,” he added, referring to Trump-era tariffs.
