KAP Sinha assumes charge as Punjab’s Chief Secretary

KAP Sinha, a 1992-batch IAS officer from the Punjab cadre, assumed office as the 43rd Chief Secretary of Punjab on Thursday at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, with several senior officials in attendance. In addition to his new role, Sinha will also serve as Principal Secretary for Vigilance, General Administration, and Vigilance.

In his inaugural address, Sinha expressed gratitude for the support he has received from the people of Punjab during his tenure in various departments. “It is time to give back the respect I have received. I will work tirelessly to ensure that citizen-centric services continue to be provided transparently and without hassle,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing overall state development, aligning with the goals of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Sinha also pledged to implement welfare schemes with renewed vigor.

Among the senior officers present were Vikas Pratap, Alok Shekhar, DK Tiwari, Tejveer Singh, and others, who shared their experiences working with Sinha and expressed their commitment to collaborating for Punjab’s prosperity.

Prior to this appointment, KAP Sinha served as the Special Chief Secretary cum Financial Commissioner of Revenue. He has held key positions in various departments, including Finance, Taxation, Food and Civil Supplies, Higher Education, Environment and Science & Technology, Parliamentary Affairs, and General Administration. Additionally, he has worked with the Union Ministry of External Affairs, Industries & Commerce, and Atomic Energy. Sinha has also participated in numerous national and international conferences and has served as Deputy Commissioner in Bathinda and Gurdaspur. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics, an LLM, and a B.Tech in Mining Engineering.
