Kangana Ranaut and Chirag Paswan have expressed their delight with the Modi government’s Budget 2024, which has notably focused on their states. Kangana Ranaut, the Bollywood actress-turned-politician who recently won a Lok Sabha seat from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, praised the budget as “wholesome.” She emphasized the positive impact of the allocated relief fund for her flood-damaged state, highlighting the promised support for reconstruction through multilateral assistance.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan also commended the budget, particularly for the special packages designated for Bihar. Paswan, the MP from Hajipur, thanked Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for significant investments in his state, including over Rs 26,000 crore for highways, Rs 11,500 crore for flood mitigation, new bridges over the Ganga River, a new airport, and a medical college. These measures are anticipated to significantly enhance Bihar’s infrastructure and economy.
In contrast, TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha has offered a mixed review of the budget. While Sinha acknowledged the relief provided for essential drugs and appreciated allocations for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, he criticized the lack of focus on states like Telangana, Punjab, and West Bengal. The budget outlines major initiatives for Bihar, such as new expressways, the development of key tourist sites, and expanded sports infrastructure, aimed at boosting the state’s profile and economic growth.
