New Delhi, November 29
ISKCON Bangladesh has reaffirmed its support for Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, currently imprisoned by the Bangladeshi government, for advocating the protection of Hindus and their places of worship. The organisation clarified that it continues to back his rights and peaceful activism.

The clarification was issued following the government’s statement that Chinmoy Krishna Das is not associated with ISKCON. In an official statement on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), ISKCON Bangladesh reaffirmed its unwavering support for Chinmoy Krishna Das, emphasizing its commitment to his rights and freedom for peacefully advocating the protection of Hindus and their places of worship. The organization also expressed its solidarity with other Sanatani groups in ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus, and in fostering a peaceful environment for minority communities in Bangladesh. “Our position has been clear in multiple press statements and interviews. We are simply reiterating what we have stated over the past months—Chinmoy Krishna Das does not officially represent ISKCON in Bangladesh,” the statement read.

Meanwhile addressing rumors of a ban on ISKCON, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser in Bangladesh’s interim government, denied any such discussions. Speaking in Dhaka on Thursday, she said, “No discussions have been held to ban ISKCON. We differentiate between individual offenses and organizational actions.”

Rizwana noted that Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on specific allegations and is currently undergoing trial. “Whether he is convicted or acquitted will be determined by the court,” she added.
