India’s space economy has grown to $8 billion and is projected to reach $44 billion within the next decade, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh said Tuesday, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reforms that opened the sector to private investment. Dr. Singh highlighted milestones such as the indigenous Gaganyaan Mission, the planned Chandrayaan-4 (2027), Shukrayaan (2028), and the Indian Space Station (2030) as markers of India’s advancing space capabilities. He also lauded innovations like SPADEX, enabling docking technology, and the Vyom Mitra robo mission as a precursor to human space exploration.

“India’s bio-economy, backed by its vast natural resources, is a growth driver for the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” Dr. Jitendra Singh added, emphasizing the country’s leadership in recycling, manufacturing, and bio-startups under the BIO-E3 policy. Singh also stressed PM Modi’s citizen-centric governance, citing Mission Karmayogi and digital innovations like face-recognition-enabled life certificates that simplify public services. India’s leadership in climate action, preventive healthcare, and global partnerships was also praised, with Singh reiterating the PM’s Mission LiFE promoting sustainable living practices. India’s conducive environment under Modi’s leadership has cemented its reputation as a global hub for startups, technology, and sustainable innovation, Singh said.
