A scuffle between a doctor and a patient at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) has ended in a mutual compromise, with both sides apologising to each other and agreeing to put the episode behind them. Senior resident doctor Raghav Narula and patient Arjun Panwar met in the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s principal media adviser Naresh Chauhan, where they exchanged apologies and embraced, signalling reconciliation.

Speaking after the settlement, Dr Narula said mistakes had occurred on both sides. “Now that we have resolved the issue, all grievances are over. We have apologised to each other and moved on,” he said.

Patient Arjun Panwar also confirmed the matter had been resolved. “The doctor has apologised and all misunderstandings are over. There is nothing more to say about what happened then. The issue is finished,” he said. Family members of both sides welcomed the compromise, saying the incident should serve as a lesson to prevent such situations in the future.

Naresh Chauhan said the agreement was reached through dialogue and that the state government did not want anyone to suffer inconvenience. He added that, following the compromise, the first information report (FIR) lodged in the case would be withdrawn. He said the government would take a decision on the possible reinstatement of the doctor’s services through due process.
