Keval Singh Pathania, the Deputy Chief Whip of Himachal Pradesh, has called for the creation of a Himalayan Regiment specifically for the hill states. He stated that Himachal is a land of the brave, and a large number of soldiers from this region have served in the armed forces, showcasing their valor. The first Param Vir Chakra was awarded to Major Somnath Sharma from this very region.
Pathania emphasized the need for a separate regiment for the hill states. He said that such a move would provide opportunities for the youth of these regions to join the army and contribute their talent towards the nation’s security.
Pathania also said that the Government of India should adopt a strict stance on ceasefire violations. He added that the Himachal Pradesh government is also paying attention to the security of its border areas and is diligently working to ensure the safety of its citizens.
At the same time, Keval Singh Pathania criticized a statement made by Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah, calling it unfortunate. He said that Mahatma Gandhi never envisioned such an India. According to him, everyone is equal, and the national flag belongs to all 1.4 billion Indians — no one needs a certificate to prove it.
Pathania appealed to the BJP to abandon its double standards and said that the cabinet minister from Madhya Pradesh should resign from his post.
