The Congress party on Thursday said that its organisational structure in Himachal Pradesh will be finalised within 15 days, following discussions with the party’s central leadership in New Delhi. Speaking to reporters in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh Congress president Vinay Kumar said a consensus had been reached with the high command to complete the formation of party executive bodies across the state within 10 to 15 days . He added that executive committees for various party departments in Himachal Pradesh would also be set up soon, with consultations already under way.
Vinay Kumar dismissed suggestions of internal factionalism within the state unit, saying the party remained united. He said while members were free to express their views, indiscipline would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“There is no factionalism in the party. Minor differences do arise, but everyone has the right to speak. However, any form of indiscipline will not be accepted,” he said.
Commenting on the upcoming Union Budget, Vinay Kumar said farmers, orchardists and backward communities in Himachal Pradesh were expecting significant relief from the central government. He added that the Congress would continue to oppose the Centre over issues related to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
He also announced that senior Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and party in-charge Rajni Patil, would stage a two-hour sit-in protest at Shimla’s Ridge Ground on 30 January.
