The Himachal Pradesh government has imposed a complete ban on the use of mobile phones in schools to maintain discipline and improve the quality of education. The Directorate of Education has issued clear instructions to heads of all government and private schools across the state. Under the new rules, students will not be allowed to bring mobile phones to school, while teachers are prohibited from using them during classes.

Phones may only be kept in staff rooms or other designated safe spaces. Authorities said the ban is aimed at ensuring students remain focused on learning and are not distracted by gadgets.

Schools have been directed to display notices about the ban prominently on their premises. In case of emergencies, both students and teachers will be allowed to use landline facilities, with parents also informed about this arrangement.

The education department warned that violations of the order would attract disciplinary action. Officials said the move is expected to not only enhance classroom learning but also protect children from mobile addiction, helping their mental and physical development.
