Punjab Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh has instructed department officers to strictly follow established norms during bidding processes and ensure top-quality standards in executing infrastructure projects. He also emphasized expediting the collection of state revenue from access fees levied on commercial establishments, including petrol pumps, along state roads.

Harbhajan Singh chaired a meeting with department officials to review the progress of major ongoing infrastructure projects and devise strategies for future developments. The session included Secretary of Public Works Department (PWD) Ravi Bhagat and the Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers of PWD B and R. Discussions focused on evaluating the alignment of budget provisions with actual project execution, with Singh stressing the need to meet both physical and financial targets promptly.

The minister was briefed on the department’s work to upgrade 22 state roads, spanning 745 kilometers, at a cost of Rs 532 crore. Key upgrades include roads such as Bhawanigarh-Mehlan Chowk, Patran-Moonak, and Gharaun Ambala, among others. These upgrades are expected to improve transportation and the state’s road infrastructure.
