The Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, has announced a statewide awareness campaign aimed at tackling food adulteration, describing it as a serious threat to public health.Speaking in Chandigarh on Friday, Sandhwan said the campaign would focus on educating students and the wider public about identifying substandard and adulterated food products, including milk, cheese, ghee and other dairy items. The initiative will include seminars and public demonstrations showing how the quality of food products can be checked.

The campaign is set to begin in Kotkapura in Faridkot district, before being expanded to other parts of the state. Members of the public will be invited to attend the demonstrations so that they can learn how to assess food quality themselves, he said.

Sandhwan called for public support, saying the success of the drive would depend on the active participation of citizens. He added that improving public health and education remained key priorities for the Punjab government.

The Speaker said the government would take strict action against anyone found involved in food adulteration, warning that no one would be spared, regardless of personal connections or influence. He said the aim was to make Punjab a healthier and happier state.
