A day after speculation about a divorce between actor-politician Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja spread online, the couple’s lawyer and close family friend, Lalit Bindal, has clarified that they remain united.

Speaking to the media, Bindal confirmed that while Sunita had filed for divorce six months ago, the couple has since reconciled. “We even traveled to Nepal during New Year and performed puja together at the Pashupatinath Mandir. These ups and downs are common in relationships, but they’re stronger than ever,” he said, The India Today reported.

Bindal also dismissed reports that the couple is living separately, explaining that Govinda purchased a bungalow for official use after becoming an MP, which happens to be located across from their marital home. “Yes, Govinda sometimes stays there overnight due to meetings, but they live together as a couple,” he clarified.

The lawyer blamed the social media frenzy on out-of-context quotes from Sunita’s public appearances and podcasts. “When she said, ‘Mujhe Govinda jaisa pati nahin chahiye,’ she also mentioned wanting a son like him. Or when she said ‘he was with his own Valentine,’ she was referring to his work commitments,” Bindal explained.

Firmly shutting down divorce rumours, Bindal stated, “It’s unfortunate how people are twisting their words. The couple is united, and I can assure you, no divorce is happening.”
