Set in the 1930s, Sarbala Ji is a nostalgic Punjabi family drama that brings top stars together in a story full of culture, comedy, and emotion. What happens when a film rooted in Punjab’s cultural fabric meets a team that believes in celebrating every moment like family? You get a trailer launch that feels less like a press conference and more like a full-blown Punjabi wedding celebration — complete with dhol beats, bhangra performances, and a dozen kids dressed as sarbalas to welcome the stars.
The cast and crew of Sarbala Ji — including Gippy Grewal, Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, Nimrat Khaira, Guggu Gill, director Mandeep Kumar, and producer Kumar Taurani — arrived in style at The Mohali Club, Wyndham, greeted by a traditional baraat-style welcome. The event matched the vibrant energy the film promises to deliver when it hits theatres on 18 July 2025.
Set in the 1930s, Sarbala Ji explores the complex yet tender dynamics of two cousin marriages — between Sucha and Gajjan Singh, and Gajjan and Pyaro. At the heart of the story is a shy groom and a spirited bride, set against the backdrop of pre-independence Punjab. But as director Mandeep Kumar explained, Sarbala Ji is more than just a period drama, “It’s a heartfelt family story inspired by real-life moments — those things we all feel but can never quite put into words.”
Ammy Virk, reflecting on the film’s title and his own childhood, shared a fun memory. “I must have been a sarbala 7–8 times just to get shagun and buy a cricket bat or toys. This film brought all those wedding memories back.”
He also addressed a long-standing perception, “Sarbala Ji breaks the myth that Punjabi actors don’t do multi-starrers. The vibe on set was like an actual wedding.”
Gippy Grewal, known for backing meaningful cinema, shared his view on storytelling in today’s time. He said, “These days, everyone chooses what they think is the best subject — but the audience decides what truly works. They are the real judges.”
Veteran actor Guggu Gill praised producer Kumar Taurani for believing in the film’s vision. “I’ve been given a role that my audience has loved before — and I hope they shower the same love on this one too.”
Speaking about the ensemble cast, director Mandeep Kumar emphasised the power of collaboration, “No one is a king alone. When everyone brings their energy to a project, that’s when the work truly shines.”
And that spirit was unmistakable throughout the event. With playful banter, shared nostalgia, and infectious energy, the launch of Sarbala Ji proved that this isn’t just another film — it’s a collective celebration of talent, tradition, and togetherness.
Produced by Tips Films Ltd., directed by Mandeep Kumar, and written by Inderjit Moga, Sarbala Ji features music by AV Sara and cinematography by Navneet Missar. The film is slated for a theatrical release on July 18, 2025, and is expected to strike a chord with families across Punjab — and beyond.
