Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday flagged off three ambulances from Mohali to deliver medical services to flood-affected communities, promising that free check-ups and medicines would be provided for 45 days. Patients with serious conditions will be referred to nearby hospitals, he added. Cheema said the state government would “go the extra mile” to support those affected by floods, with a vision of building a stronger and more prosperous Punjab. Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh, who reviewed relief efforts in Fazilka district, said the government aimed to restore normalcy in flood-hit regions within 45 days. He stressed that health authorities were on alert to prevent disease outbreaks. Balbir Singh also met with non-governmental organisations, praising their efforts during the crisis and urging them to adopt villages to help rebuild communities socially and emotionally.
Highlighting Mission Chardi Kala, he said Punjabis are known for their spirit of helping others, adding that contributions can be made via the state’s portal rangla.punjab.gov.in. Funds, he said, would go directly to flood relief initiatives.
