Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that his government’s pro-farmer policies over the past 11 years have ushered in an era of “dignity and prosperity” for India’s agricultural community. Speaking on the progress made under various welfare schemes, Modi singled out the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and the crop insurance initiative, Kisan Fasal Bima Yojana, as cornerstone programmes that have strengthened the rural economy.
He credited the regular hikes in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) with ensuring fair compensation for farmers, stating that such measures have contributed to a steady rise in rural incomes. “It has been our privilege to serve India’s farmers,” Modi said, adding that successive reforms have driven a broader transformation in the agricultural sector. “We have worked not only for prosperity, but also for the dignity of our annadaatas food providers,” he remarked. He also underlined improvements in soil health and irrigation infrastructure, which he described as critical components in building a more resilient farming system.
