The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Friday has issued notice to the state government, the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, and the Superintendent of Police in Kangra in connection with an alleged police recruitment exam scam. The court has directed the state government and the other two to submit their responses within four weeks. The action follows a petition filed by five candidates, who have demanded the cancellation of the recruitment exam and a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The petition alleges large-scale irregularities, including a leak of the question paper, which was reportedly sold for up to ₹4 lakh.
Appearing on behalf of the petitioners, former Additional Advocate General Vinay Sharma told the court that while Kangra Police had made a few arrests in the case, no substantial investigation had followed. He also revealed that nearly 1,600 candidates had emailed complaints to the Public Service Commission, which allegedly failed to take any action.
With no official response forthcoming, the petitioners approached the High Court seeking judicial intervention. They are calling for the exam to be scrapped and for a CBI-led investigation to ensure transparency in the recruitment process.
