New Delhi, March 24
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has identified proceeds of crime amounting to Rs 35,925.58 crore across 257 cybercrime cases investigated up to February 28, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar stated that the ED and other law enforcement agencies exchange information, including cybercrime-related inputs, through designated nodal officers under an established mechanism.
He further said that the ED also shares information with other agencies under Section 66(2) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) whenever violations relevant to those agencies are detected during investigations.
The minister added that the ED is making use of platforms such as SAHYOG, Samanvaya, and the cyber police portal managed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
According to Kumar, the Samanvaya platform functions as a management information system (MIS), a data repository, and a coordination tool for law enforcement agencies to facilitate cybercrime data sharing and analysis.
He noted that the platform enables analytics-driven interstate linkages of crimes and offenders involved in cybercrime complaints across various states and Union Territories.
The ED also accesses cybercrime-related FIRs registered by different state police forces through the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) portal, the minister said.
“As per ED data, by February 28, 2026, around 257 cybercrime cases had been taken up for investigation under the PMLA, leading to the identification of proceeds of crime worth Rs 35,925.58 crore. However, the ED does not maintain state-wise data on such proceeds,” Kumar added.
He also informed that on January 2, the Centre issued a comprehensive standard operating procedure (SOP) to provide a uniform and victim-centric framework for handling complaints via the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRMS).
The SOP establishes a dedicated coordination mechanism to strengthen collaboration, particularly with states and Union Territories, whose police forces are integrated into the system.
