Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called on India’s youth to harness their potential and contribute to the nation’s goal of becoming a developed country by 2047. Speaking at the convocation ceremony of IIMT University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on January 11, Singh emphasized the crucial role of young minds in shaping the country’s future and aligning their aspirations with national progress. “The dreams, commitment, and innovative thinking of our youth will give India a new identity on the global stage,” Singh said, citing optimism as the youth’s most potent strength, capable of turning challenges into opportunities. Highlighting India’s growing global stature under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh stated, “Today, when India speaks, the whole world listens.” He lauded India’s strides in defense production, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship, noting its position as the third-largest start-up hub with over 100 unicorns.
The minister urged students to embrace the opportunities created by government initiatives and to uphold faith in God, confidence in their abilities, and hope for success in overcoming challenges. “India is transforming through innovation and dynamism, qualities that define leaders,” Rajnath Singh said.
Rajnath Singh called on the youth to remain connected to India’s history, culture, and values, drawing lessons from them to navigate challenges. “Moving beyond personal success to focus on societal betterment leaves a lasting legacy,” he added. Paying tribute to Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary, celebrated as National Youth Day on January 12, Singh described him as India’s first “Global Youth” and urged young minds to draw inspiration from his teachings and vision.
