Punjab Local Government Minister Dr Ravjot Singh on Thursday said the state will soon roll out eight new online services for urban citizens, describing the initiative as a “major step” in strengthening e-Governance and delivering transparent, citizen-friendly administration.

The services, introduced under the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government, aim to streamline administrative processes and improve efficiency across urban local bodies.

Dr Ravjot Singh said the new facilities would include online applications and issuance of pet licences, a digital platform for rent and lease agreements, online approvals for advertisements and hoardings, e-challaning for traffic violations, and online payment of garbage collection fees.

“Punjab is already one of the leading states in providing e-Governance services,” he said. “With these new initiatives, our objective is to further take urban services to the next level. These eight services will not only enhance the efficiency of local government institutions but also ensure convenient and transparent access to essential services for citizens.”

Officials said that automation and digitisation will reduce processing time, provide real-time updates and tracking for residents, and enable government employees to focus on higher-priority tasks.

Reiterating the Punjab Government’s commitment to innovation, Dr Ravjot Singh said continuous efforts were being made to leverage technology for good governance. He expressed confidence that the reforms would significantly improve the citizen experience and set a benchmark for urban governance in other states.
