In a nationwide outreach ahead of the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Punjab Cabinet Ministers on Sunday extended formal invitations to Chief Ministers from different states to join the commemorations at Sri Anandpur Sahib next month.

Carrying forward the initiative of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Local Government Minister Ravjot Singh personally invited Conrad Kongkal Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya. Meanwhile, PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal called on N. Rangasamy, the Chief Minister of Puducherry, extending a similar invitation.

The ministers briefed their counterparts on the series of state-level religious and cultural events planned to honour Guru Sahib’s supreme sacrifice to uphold faith, righteousness and freedom of conscience. The main commemorations will be held from November 23 to 25 at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Expressing their appreciation for the personal invitations, the Chief Ministers of Meghalaya and Puducherry said Guru Sahib’s universal message of peace, harmony and brotherhood continues to inspire people worldwide.

Dr. Ravjot Singh said the commemorative events are being held at sacred sites associated with the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Punjab ministers have been deputed to invite Chief Ministers of all Indian states, ensuring nationwide participation.

The month-long programmes began with an Ardas at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi. Events will include light and sound shows, Kirtan Darbars, interfaith gatherings and religious processions. Four Nagar Kirtans — originating from Srinagar, Gurdaspur, Faridkot and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib — will converge at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22.

The main celebrations will feature a Sarbat Dharam Sammelan, a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, and a grand Kirtan Darbar.
