The murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal in Rohtak has plunged her family into a hauntingly familiar nightmare. The family endured a similar tragedy when Himani’s brother, Kuldeep, was brutally stabbed, his body found stuffed in a sack in 2011. Now, Himani’s body has been discovered in a suitcase, reigniting the family’s grief and frustration over a lack of justice.
Himani’s brother, Jatin, who lost both siblings in eerily similar circumstances, made a heartfelt plea for justice. His call for action highlighted the family’s anguish, as Kuldeep’s killers were never convicted despite initial arrests. “We are still waiting for justice for my brother, and now it feels like history is repeating itself with my sister,” Jatin said, local media reports suggested.
Haryana Police arrested a suspect in Himani’s case after detaining two men from Delhi. Police said the arrested suspect knew the victim and that further investigations are underway to determine if others were involved. Himani’s mother, Savita, voiced her suspicions that the perpetrator might be someone close to the family, either from the political circle, her college, or even a relative. She described her daughter as a fearless advocate against wrongdoing.
The family has vowed not to perform Himani’s last rites until justice is served, underscoring their enduring fight against injustice and the trauma of reliving an unhealed wound.
