Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday condemned the increasing disruptions in the House due to Opposition protests. He emphasized that the largest democracy cannot be made dysfunctional by external forces. Dhankhar stressed the need for unity in countering any initiatives that threaten India’s sovereignty.
“We cannot allow the largest democracy to be made dysfunctional by the deep state elsewhere,” Dhankhar remarked in the House. He further called for contributions from all members, saying, “This is a very serious issue, and we need to have opinions from everyone.” Dhankar made these remarks after the
Congress MPs staged a protest inside Parliament House over the corruption charges against the Adani group. The protesting lawmakers accused the Centre of “running away” from a parliamentary discussion on the issue, while reiterating that the Opposition has consistently called for such a debate.
