Punjab DGP, Gaurav Yadav, has pledged to intensify efforts to dismantle the cross-border narcotics network, calling for “transparent enforcement” of the state’s anti-drug laws. Speaking on the second day of his law and order review tour, Yadav chaired the fourth range-level meeting in Ferozepur on Tuesday, attended by officers from the Ferozepur and Faridkot ranges, including representatives from Fazilka, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Moga and Muktsar districts.

The police chief issued fresh directives on counter-terrorism preparedness, tighter inter-district coordination, strengthened checkpoints and continuous surveillance, saying these measures are  vital to ensuring public safety during India’s Independence Day celebrations next week. Yadav described his feedback session with station house officers as “fruitful”, praising them as “the backbone of Punjab police”. He said their insights would help refine operational strategies and deepen engagement with communities.

The meeting was also attended by the DIG of Faridkot range, senior superintendents of police and all gazetted officers from the districts concerned.
