Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday chaired a series of high-level review meetings with senior officials to assess the situation following Monday’s deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. He directed agencies to trace every individual involved, declaring that “everyone behind this act will face the full wrath of our agencies.” The explosion, which occurred near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, killed at least 13 people and injured 21, according to officials.

Preliminary reports suggest that a man identified as Dr Umar was driving the vehicle at the time of the blast. Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained his father, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, from Koil village in Pulwama for questioning. The Union government has ordered the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to lead the probe. As part of heightened security measures, the Red Fort has been closed to visitors for three days, while the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has temporarily shut the Lal Qila Metro Station on the Violet Line.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on an official visit to Bhutan, expressed deep grief over the incident, saying he was “in constant touch” with investigating agencies. “I came here with a heavy heart. I understand the pain of the families who lost their loved ones in the Delhi blast. The entire country stands with them,” Modi said, assuring that no one responsible would be spared.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also condemned the attack and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring justice. “I wish to assure my fellow citizens that the country’s leading investigative agencies are conducting a swift and thorough inquiry. Those responsible will face the full force of the law,” he said, adding that the findings of the probe would soon be made public.
