Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said he is confident the Congress will return to power with a “heavy majority” in the 2027 assembly elections, pointing to what he described as a massive public turnout at a rally marking three years of his government. Speaking at Paddal ground on Thursday, Sukhu said the crowd reflected growing support for his administration’s push for “systemic change” in the state.
He accused the BJP and the central government of creating “political and economic barriers”, but said the Congress government had continued to chart a course for the state’s progress. Referring to last year’s natural disaster, the chief minister said the state had faced “stepmotherly treatment” from the Centre, but his government ensured “no family was left alone”. Compensation, he said, had been increased “several times” and delivered directly to affected communities.
Sukhu said his administration had honoured its pre-election guarantees, strengthened the rural economy, intensified efforts to make Himachal “Chitta-free”, and taken steps to improve revenue generation. He added that the government remained committed to protecting the state’s identity, advancing the mission of a self-reliant Himachal, and continuing what he called the fight for the state’s rights.
