A complaint has been filed against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known for his BeerBiceps channel, over an obscene remark made on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent on Monday. The controversy has fueled online outrage, with many calling for stricter regulations on digital content. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hinted at possible action, stating, “Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others.” Allahbadia, an award-winning content creator, faced intense backlash after a viral clip showed him asking a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?”, the news outlet India Today reported
According to The Indian Express, Allahbadia issued an apology, calling his remark “not just inappropriate, but not even funny,” and admitted that “comedy is not my forte.” A complaint was reportedly filed against Allahbadia, Raina, and fellow YouTubers Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija, also judges on the show. The complaint, lodged with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accuses the YouTubers of using abusive language and demands strict legal action. Amid the uproar, social media users alleged that Allahbadia’s joke was plagiarized from another show, with netizens claiming it was “a well-prepared joke and not a slip of the tongue.”
Amid the controversy over YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on a roast show, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said she would raise the issue in Parliament.
“Any abusive language in the name of comedy is unacceptable. What level are we stooping to? Having a platform does not mean one can say anything,” Chaturvedi said.
