Researchers have identified common metabolites across multiple cancer types, including pancreatic and glioma cancers, raising their potential as universal cancer biomarkers. This discovery could pave the way for non-invasive cancer diagnosis and targeted therapies.

Aggressive cancers like pancreatic and glioma are often diagnosed late, making early detection crucial. Scientists at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali, have found metabolites in exosomes—nano-sized messengers that carry tumour-derived substances—offering new diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities. The study used advanced techniques such as Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis, Electron Microscopy, and Mass Spectrometry to analyze exosomes from pancreatic, lung, and glioma cancer cell lines. These findings, published in Nanoscale, could lead to precision medicine strategies that improve treatment efficacy and reduce side effects.
