Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday called on the public to actively participate in the fight against drugs to eradicate the menace from the state. Speaking at the launch of the City Surveillance and Management System, Mann highlighted the government’s crackdown on drug trafficking, focusing on disrupting supply chains, jailing traffickers, and rehabilitating addicts. Mann expressed gratitude to the public for their support but stressed that the anti-drug campaign’s success hinges on sustained community involvement. He urged citizens to report drug smugglers, assuring that properties acquired through drug money would be confiscated or demolished under the state’s ongoing mega drive.

The Chief Minister outlined various government initiatives, including providing over 51,000 government jobs, ensuring 90 percent of households receive zero electricity bills, and facilitating free healthcare for over 2.5 crore people through Aam Aadmi Clinics. He emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises and undertaking additional initiatives beyond their original pledges. Chief Minister Mann also detailed the state’s pioneering ‘Sadak Surakhya Force’ to improve road safety, which has already led to a 48.10 percent reduction in accident fatalities. The force comprises 1,597 specially trained personnel and 144 fully equipped vehicles, setting an example for other states and the central government.

Prioritizing health, education, power, water, infrastructure, and law and order, Mann reaffirmed his vision of making Punjab a leading state in India. He encouraged citizens to follow road safety rules and contribute to a safer society, pledging relentless efforts to enhance public welfare.
