Sri Anandpur Sahib, November 25

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal joined devotees in Sri Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday to mark the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur and three revered Sikh martyrs — Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala. The two leaders took part in the Ardas following the Bhog of the Akhand Path at Gurdwara Baba Budha Dal Chauni, where they prayed for the progress of Punjab and the welfare of its people. They described it as an honour to participate in ceremonies commemorating the Guru’s supreme sacrifice.

Mann and Kejriwal said Sikh teachings embodied the principles of equality, social justice and secularism, adding that the Guru Granth Sahib remained a beacon of universal brotherhood. They said Punjabis, and Sikhs in particular, had inherited a tradition of courage and resistance against tyranny.

They added that it was the responsibility of the state to preserve Punjab’s cultural and spiritual heritage for future generations. The leaders said the government had made efforts to ensure the commemorative events reflected the scale and significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice, which continues to inspire millions globally.
